computer hardware information
It is not possible to give any general recommendation regarding the best location for
the realisation of virtualisation. Instead it is necessary to consider the requirements of
resource consumption, fault-tolerance, performance, scalability and ease of administration
for the specific individual case when selecting the realisation location. From the point
of view of the resource load on the server it is beneficial to realise the computer hardware information virtualisation
as close as possible to the disk subsystem. However, to increase performance when
performance requirements are high, it is necessary to virtualise within the main memory:
only thus can the load be divided amongst several host bus adapters and host I/O buses
. Virtualisation in the volume manager is also beneficial from the point of
view of fault-tolerance.
