distributed application. If one server fails, recovery measures are only
necessary for those clients that have just been served by the failed computer. Likewise,
recovery measures are necessary for the parts of the shared disk file system and the
network file system have just been managed by the failed computer. None of the other
clients of the file server notice the failure of a computer apart from a possible reduction
in performance.
