The off-network vulnerability of physical assets can be reduced or eliminated when their whereabouts are dynamically monitored with a wireless tracking system. A continually updated inventory on network, complete with documented changes to location and notifications of authorized (and unauthorized) movements, is the only way to guarantee that computing hardware is where it is supposed to be. Security audits are becoming more commonplace and add yet another strain on the resources of today's datacenter manager.
